Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC)

What is BRIC?

The Disaster Recovery Reform Act (DRRA) passed in 2018, amended many sections of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Act including Section 203, Pre-Disaster Mitigation. FEMA is working on the development and implementation of DRRA Section 1234: National Public Infrastructure Pre-Disaster Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. This program, which FEMA has named Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), will be funded through the Disaster Relief Fund as a 6% set aside from estimated disaster grant expenditures.

This grant is expected to be posted in the federal register soon, with applications due before the end of 2020. DHSEM will provide additional information as soon as it is made available. BRIC will replace PDM, the existing Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program.
